Facing complex challenges, combining expertise with practical experience and implementing visionary ideas are the characteristics which the Organisationsforum Wirtschaftskongress (OFW) pursues. The OFW perceives itself as a school for future entrepreneurs. Therefore the OFW annually offers forty students the opportunity of organizing the largest international student-run business convention: the World Business Dialogue. The fact that the members of the OFW are all still students is not regarded as a handicap, but as a unique feature.

 

The idea behind the OFW originated in 1984, when two students took up the challenge to broaden their mind, escaping the prevalent anonymity at their university. Their concept was to bring together exceptional students and experienced entrepreneurs to discuss current economic issues. Back in 1984 this intention seemed an unbelievable vision.

 

However, the idea became successful. Only three years later, the newly founded Organisationsforum Wirtschaftskongress e.V. turned the University of Cologne into a convention centre when the 1st Deutsche Wirtschaftskongress, the predecessor of the World Business Dialogue took place. The topic “space as a market” proved the founders’ aim of pioneering a future thinking. Today the OFW is a gGmbH, working like a small company. Therefore, the team is divided into seven departments: Corporate Relations, Event Management, Finance & Controlling, Human Resources, International Relations, Marketing & PR and Trends & Speakers. The four managing directors, also students, build the head of the organisation and ensure that every element of the convention is properly planned and finally implemented as envisioned. To achieve this ambitious goal, every team member puts all his or her effort, commitment and ideas into this unique project.
